Privacy without the creepy bits.
Weird on Purpose is built by Builder of Things Studio LLC. The app is designed so your photos and face data stay under your control.
Photos and face data
- Camera frames, face landmarks, expression signals, and rendered photos are processed on your device.
- We do not upload, collect, store, or receive your photos, camera frames, face landmarks, or face data.
- The app cannot browse or import your photo library.
- A photo is added to Photos only when you tap Save. Nothing saves automatically.
- Nothing is shared unless you tap Share and choose a destination in Apple’s system share sheet.
Small first-party usage metrics
To understand whether the app works, Weird on Purpose sends a bounded first-party event stream to Builder of Things Studio. It includes a random app-install identifier, app and session starts, selected mode/effect/frame identifiers, capture/save/share outcomes, and coarse failure categories.
These events never contain photos, thumbnails, camera frames, face counts, landmarks, expression signals, filenames, prompts, share destinations, advertising identifiers, precise location, contacts, or free-form error text. The random install identifier is not connected to an account or your identity and is not used across apps.
Raw anonymous events are retained for up to 180 days. We do not retain an IP-address history. Data is used only to operate and improve Weird on Purpose. It is not sold, used for advertising, or shared with third-party analytics companies.
No accounts, ads, or tracking
Weird on Purpose has no accounts, public profiles, social graph, advertising, third-party tracking SDK, remote face recognition, or cloud photo gallery.
Your choices
You can deny Camera or add-only Photos permission in iOS Settings. You can remove local app data by deleting the app. Because anonymous metrics are not connected to contact information, we may be unable to associate a deletion request with a specific random record.
